FREE Plant Walk

Saturday, August 31st 10am - 12pm | Dobie Mountain, Waynesboro, VA | FREE* + Registration Required

Join herbalist Meg Madden for a monthly educational journey onto the land.

These in-person events are a casual way to connect with each other in person while learning about the native and medicinal plants of our region! Sites will vary each month as we explore the surrounding flora discussing ecology, microclimates, and anything else we want to chat about while we meet the plant beings with whom we share home.

These events will be rain or shine unless the weather is particularly bad. Dress appropriately for outdoor adventuring (hats, sun protection, weather protection, bug protection, comfort, etc.) and bring what you'll need to keep yourself hydrated and nourished (snacks, water, etc.). Other things you may want to bring are loupes to look closely at things, field guides, cameras, and notebooks.

We will meet on site and begin walking no later than 10:05. See you there!

This Month's Location: Dobie Mountain

Special Notes:

Please arrive a little early to make sure you can park and walk to the meeting spot! If you're running a little late, feel free to clip along and catch up!

This hike (2.2 miles total) might run over the 2 hour scheduled time. There's a lot to see, and a beautiful view at the overlook. You're welcome to join and turn back any time.

We'll meet in the upper parking lot at Humpback Rocks, and will be walking Dobie Mountain to Glass Hollow Overlook and back. There is parking in the upper lot at Humpback Rocks but this lot can fill up on the weekends. There is always parking available in the lower lot. Parking in the lower lot will add ten minutes of walking to your travel time, so it's a good idea to arrive early just in case. There are bathrooms and a small homestead museum area in the lower lot.
