We've Got a Plan for the Pandemic at The Elderberry
As I am sure you are all very aware, the escalating spread of the Coronavirus globally and the potential for an outbreak in Charlottesville is becoming possible. Due to this crisis, for the next month we will be open WEDNESDAYS 11-6 in addition to our other days.
The plants will support us through this development and we’re happy to continue to offer them, with some extra mindfulness. We want you to know that we are taking extra precautions to help ensure that all of our visitors to our shop stay healthy.
Here are some of the protocols we have implemented at our store:
• Large bottle of hand sanitizer, large box of tissues, sanitizing wipes and a UV light-based cell phone sanitizer is set out for your use.
• Switching from daily wiping down to frequent (5-6 times per day) wiping down of all surfaces with sanitary wipes. Surfaces include:
o Front door handles, outside and inside.
o Tea Dispenser Handle
o Sink faucets, kitchen and bathroom
o Toilet flusher handle
o Doorknob of bathroom
o Clover register
o Retail displays
o Twice daily bathroom cleaning.
o Sharing best hygiene practices with our staff
o Retail displays
o If anyone from our staff feels even slightly ill, they will stay home and work remotely.
What we are asking of you, our students and customers:
• We’re asking all customers to not attend class or come to purchase products if feeling ill. If you’re ill or don’t wish to come into the store and need herbs, please call 434-964-9376 to speak to a staff person to place an order and pay by phone (DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE). Your order will be placed in a bag (with your first name and last initial on it) in a large plastic container outside the store for you to pick up.
• We’re asking all customers entering the store to spray down their hands with our alcohol and essential oil-based hand sanitizer.
• If you need to use your cell phone or Ipad, please wipe down before using. We will provide sanitizer and wipes.
• We’ll be rescheduling classes if things continue to spread. Classes are easy to make up!
• Wash hands frequently.
• Use alcohol-based sanitizer (minimum 60% alcohol).
• Avoid touching your face.
• Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow or sleeve.
• Immediately discard soiled tissues into the provided trashcan; don’t leave them hanging around. Make sure to clean your hands immediately afterwards.
We understand how stressful this is, and we’re here to support you in any and every way we can. We’ve got some good things to make you feel better and support your immune system. We look forward to continuing to serve our community!
NOTE: We have a HUGE order of elderberries and elderflowers due to arrive March 18. Heather will be making her fabulous Elderberry Syrup as soon as they arrive AND we will be making LOTS and LOTS of Elderberry Syrup kits and kit refills.
